Advice on Hiring a Wedding Band

Some useful advice on hiring a live band for your wedding, party or business function from Hard to Handle band:

Who are Hard to Handle?
We are a professional UK three piece live function band performing at wedding receptions, parties and business events UK wide.

What should someone consider when hiring a band for their wedding?
Style of music performed is key – hiring a band which can perform music to suite all age ranges is hugely important. Reliability is also relevant – is it worth taking a chance on hiring your friends’ amateur band who will play for beers but may forget to save the date when you could hire a professional, versatile and entertaining live function band?

What kind of music do we play?
Rock, indie, soul, pop and more.

Do you we requests? If so, what are some of the most requested songs?
We routinely learn first dance songs for wedding receptions. In 2015 the most popular request was “Thinking out loud”, Ed Sheeran. “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers is also a favourite. We also play “curveball” requests – at last nights’ wedding the first dance was “Angel” by Shaggy!

Why do we think the band has been so successful in comparison to other wedding bands?
Replying to inquiries within 24 hours communicates professionalism to clients; this definitely helps dispel the myth that all bands are somewhat disorganized. Breadth of genres of music performed also helps. And we’re very cost effective!

Do we perform outside of the UK?
Yes – we have recently performed in France but have also performed in the US, throughout Europe and Australasia.

What would be our top three suggestions for people looking to reduce stress during wedding planning?
Not three, but four suggestions:
1.) Do your research – look at bands with demonstrable track records. Social media is great for this.
2.) Ask friends who hired bands for their wedding reception about the pros and cons
3.) Make sure you have a paper trail of communication with your band
4.) Perform an “expectations vs. reality” check prior to confirming a booking
